We will be on the Square in Franklin to do 3-6miles this Saturday (Dec. 12). We will meet at 6:30 in the morning. Dress warm, it will be between 26 and 28 degrees.
We are 16 weeks or so out from the Tom King Half Marathon. This will be the first year the our group looks to run this race as well as the Country Music Half Marathon. So, we are starting the group Half training earlier than usual and we will go solid through the Children's Home 5K in May. I will try to get a sample training schedule up in the next couple of days.
Keep Running the Race!
About Striving Striders
We started as a group of three runners, training for the Country Music Marathon in the spring of 2007, who wanted to share the love of Christ with each other and others while running. It was out of our group training experience and a lot prayer that we sought to become the Nasvhille Chapeter of ChristianRunners.org. The purpose of this group is not to serve or take the place of a Bible study or things of that nature, it is to set an example of how to serve and to conduct ourselves as the “Living Example” and have a good time doing it while running, reaching goals, and being together.
"Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize." 1 Cor. 9:24

Group Run on Saturday June 20
This Saturday we will be running from the Franklin High School track on Hillsboro Road in Franklin. We are going to warm up at the track, do a session intervals, and then a long cool down. We are going to start at 6am to beat the heat so please make sure you bring plenty of water. This will kick off our training for the Franklin Classic 5k on labor day weekend.
If you have never done an interval session please make sure you come on out. They are fun and as a group and can get competitive. Certainly nobody in our group is going to give Usain Bolt a run for his money.
Please let me know if you plan on being there or if you need directions.
Welcome to the New Blog
We've decided to setup a new blog to help us get more frequent updates to everyone. Striving Striders, the Nashville Chapter of ChristianRunners.org has been around since September 2007. The name Striving Striders comes from 1 Timothy 4:8-10:
With that said, we have tried to get together for frequent Saturday morning runs. Typically, we have used the summer and fall to focus on 5k/10k training runs. Many of us then use the winter and spring to train for the Country Music Half Marathon. This past year, we had six first time half marathoners! We would love to have you come out and join us.
8For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.
9This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance 10(and for this we labor and strive), that we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who believe.
