About Striving Striders

We started as a group of three runners, training for the Country Music Marathon in the spring of 2007, who wanted to share the love of Christ with each other and others while running. It was out of our group training experience and a lot prayer that we sought to become the Nasvhille Chapeter of ChristianRunners.org. The purpose of this group is not to serve or take the place of a Bible study or things of that nature, it is to set an example of how to serve and to conduct ourselves as the “Living Example” and have a good time doing it while running, reaching goals, and being together.

"Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize." 1 Cor. 9:24

Welcome to the New Blog

We've decided to setup a new blog to help us get more frequent updates to everyone. Striving Striders, the Nashville Chapter of ChristianRunners.org has been around since September 2007. The name Striving Striders comes from 1 Timothy 4:8-10:
8For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.
9This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance 10(and for this we labor and strive), that we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who believe.

With that said, we have tried to get together for frequent Saturday morning runs. Typically, we have used the summer and fall to focus on 5k/10k training runs. Many of us then use the winter and spring to train for the Country Music Half Marathon. This past year, we had six first time half marathoners! We would love to have you come out and join us.
